Our historic and unique church with its beautifully crafted woodwork and exquisite stained glass window was built 100 years ago at Ellesmere and moved to Ferrymead in the 1970's. The Church dominates the township facing the Port Hills. It can hold between 80 to 100 people and is bright and airy.
The bride and groom as well as members of the wedding party and your family together with your photographer are welcome to come and inspect the church and the park before the event. We would also make the church available for the wedding rehearsal. See photos.
Hire of the church is $300. This includes the right to take wedding photos in the park and inside some of the Exhibition areas such as the Hall of Wheels, and other buildings. However interior photos in Curragh Cottage involve it being opened specially by volunteers for a small fee.
You are welcome to decorate the church as you wish prior to the event; or you can use the decorations already there which include 4 white topiary trees. We have an old church organ or you can bring your own stereo or other music. The church is always cleaned especially on the day before the wedding and closed to the public.
Some people like to have their guests arrive on the tram, leaving their cars at the Tram Barn which is about 1km down the road. Hire of the Wedding tram is $110. The tram, which is decorated for the occasion can bring the guests first, and then go back for the bride's party, and we put out a red carpet for the bride!! The tram would come back for the guests and wedding party after the wedding.
Any enquiries regarding the tram, please phone Barry Marchant on +64 3 9817172 or email him on barry-m@paradise.net.nz.
We are happy to refer you to a marriage celebrant if you do not have one arranged, and can also supply contact details for a piper and organist as required.
We endeavour to do all we can to make your wedding day a memorable one.
