Experience some aspects of life in New Zealand around the time women were granted the vote in Parliamentary elections. Understand and appreciate the struggle that men and women went through to obtain voting rights for all New Zealand women.

Try some of the clothing of suffragist times and learn about the restrictions that this and the etiquette of the day, imposed on people’s lives.

Home life

Experience the reality of working class home life and consider the attitude of these women.

Printing

Meet Sir John Hall at the Print Shop and prepare a newspaper to support the petition for women’s suffrage.

Social Life

Experience some of the leisure activities of this era.  Find out why the bicycle was an important aspect of the emancipation of women.

WCTU meeting

Attend a general meeting of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. Camellia White will speak urging everyone to support the suffragist cause.
