Curriculum based learning experiences for Primary, Intermediate and Secondary students.

Providing an authentic, hands on heritage experience

The Education Co-ordinators at Ferrymead Heritage Park are all New Zealand trained and registered teachers.

Programmes

Most programmes can be tailored to meet the curriculum requirements of any Primary or Secondary level.

Heritage Costumes

All our programmes include wearing costumes, except for some larger customised bookings. The educator will talk to you about this at the time of your booking.

Students have opportunities to

  • dress in clothing of the era.
  • learn about and experience etiquette of the past.
  • take part in role plays and experience everyday life in the past.
  • reflect on and discuss the similarities, differences and changes in New Zealand society.
  • talk with people who are experts in their field.
  • participate in enriching and enjoyable learning experiences.

Planning your visit

Hours

Programmes are available any time between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday.  We recommend that your programme start at 9.30am and runs for approximately 2.5 to 3.5 hours, followed by lunch and time to look around the Park if you wish.

Cost

All Ferrymead Education programmes are $8.20 per student, GST inclusive.
All adults are free.
Ferrymead Heritage Park will invoice your school after your visit.

Tram

Some of our programmes include a ride on an electric tram.  Where this is not included, a tram can be hired for $65.00 and must be pre-booked. 
The Ferrymead Educator will discuss this with you at the time of your booking.

Costume Hire

Ferrymead Heritage Park has costumes available for hire to schools.  Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
